• Silymarin (Milk Thistle) : Silymarin is a powerful antioxidant that protects liver cells (and other cells in the body and brain) from toxins. Silymarin may promote liver cell protein synthesis. It may be beneficial in a number of diseases involving the liver, if in the early stages. It may have anti-cancer properties. Silymarin provides hepatocellular protection by stabilizing hepatic cell membrane. It helps in repair & regeneration of damaged liver cells. Silymarin may also play a beneficial role for kidney health and treatment of Irritable Bowel Disease.
• Tricholine Citrate : Helps in promoting a healthy liver and minimises accumulation of fat in the liver by converting it into phospholipids
• N-Acetylcysteine : Promotes detoxification and is a powerful antioxidant. Has also been proven to be effective in various kidney ailments including some forms of acute renal failure, cystic ovaries, reducing mucus and helping with breathing in various lung conditions and reducing homocysteine levels in dogs with congestive heart failure
• L-Ornithine : Helps in regeneration of liver cells & helps to maintain healthy liver. It may help in fat metabolism, improving appetite, slowing muscle degeneration and enhancing the immune system
• Selenium Dioxide : Acts in synergy with N-Acetylcystein as an antioxidant, may help protect against cancer, heart diseases and reducing cholesterol levels
• Artichoke : Contains luteolin which supports liver cell regeneration hepatic cells, induces apoptosis. As a natural diuretic and choleretic, artichokes stimulate bile production, improve gallbladder function and aid in a more efficient breakdown of foods for overall improved digestion. One of the major benefits of artichokes to your liver is that they are a natural defense against hepatoxicity [toxicity of the liver]. They guard your liver cells from damage caused by outside pollutants, carcinogens and toxins.
• Catechins : Green tea’s many health benefits are owed to its richness in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). A powerful antioxidant, EGCG kills cells gone awry(apoptosis), without harming healthy tissue. In addition to lowering LDL cholesterol levels, EGCG has been shown to inhibit the formation of harm-causing blood clots.
• Caution in using Green Tea : Green tea supplements contain concentrated amounts of polyphenols, including epigallocatechin-3-gallate, also known as EGCG. Consumption of between 700 and 2,000 milligrams per day led to toxic liver effects in nine anecdotal case reports, according to an article published by researchers from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey in the March 2007 issue of “Chemical Research and Toxicology.” When patients stopped taking the supplements, their liver problems disappeared.
